Orange Blossom Family Photography: Another day at the set

I am not a writer....I used to be, when I could do it in Portuguese! Hahaha... Still, I want to blog about this incredible experience to do photography in a movie set.

I will never ever look at a movie the same way again! I know I probably have said it before: So much work goes behind the scenes!!! It is all in the details. For this particular scene, set up began around noon and at 7pm they were still shooting. Why? Several factors: setting up, lighting, acting, capturing different angles, perspective... Nothing is hurried, everything is executed with precision.   There is plenty of time to have fun, and the food provide by craft services, is oh, so yummy!

The windows were custom made for the set by one of art directors. This set is located in one little corner inside the "packing shed" at Riley's Farm. As you can imagine there are many jobs involved. But you might not know how many young people work behind the scenes in very important jobs. Young like teenagers and twenty somethings in sound, story boarding, camera operators....etc

It's been a fun learning experience.   I am watching how the lighting is done and the equipment used. ~~Sometimes~~, Often, I wish I could shoot during scenes....but I have to be fast and capture when I can. I wish I had enough time to build myself a sound proof box for my camera, but with only 4 days left of filming.... it doesn't look like I will find the time. This is a lot different than scheduled one or two hour family shoots I am accustomed, when people pose for me and I have their attention.

I do miss my old routine a bit. I'm enjoying the big hugs and mommy is home, expletives! The whole family has been on the set during filming. My husband was happy to be an extra, until he found out he had to shave his beard, lol.   So, I don't get to see him in his colonial best. The kids and my mom were extras for a couple days! ( more pics later)

We will begin homeschooling again in September. Meanwhile is summer fun with their grandma! :)

I caught these during rehearsal just before cameras rolled. Looking forward to another day tomorrow!
